Now Offering: Aquatic Physical Therapy

Possibly the most ENJOYABLE and COMFORTABLE therapy you have EVER had!!!

We are happy to announce that here at Elko Spine Physical Therapy we are able to share the benefits of aquatic physical therapy with our valued clients!

Aquatic therapy can be very effective when you have a condition that makes it painful to put weight on your lower extremities, such as arthritis, knee pain, hip pain, or low back pain. During aquatic therapy, the buoyancy of the water allows for less weight acting on your lower body. This allows patients to do movements and exercises in the pool that they couldn't normally do on land without feeling pain. Therapists at Elko Spine Physical Therapy are trained to provide patient specific programs and give one-on-one attention during treatment in the pool.

Why Aquatic Physical Therapy?

Aquatic therapy can improve your flexibility, balance, coordination while building muscle strength and endurance, and assisting with gait and motion. Our WARM WATER is used to create an environment that RELAXES and SOOTHES aching joints and muscles.

Buoyancy also reduces the pressure on joints and muscles by reducing the effects of gravity while exercising.

The hydrostatic pressure of the pool reduces swelling and relieves joint stress. If you have balance issues, our SwimEx pool is perfect for creating gentle waves. Therapists can easily challenge patients using adjustable currents to quickly build stability, balance and confidence.

Will It Help My Condition?

Aquatic therapy could be your BEST OPTION! It is applicable to a lengthy list of conditions, and can be recommended to clients of all ages.

If you suffer from open wounds, incontinence or seizures, this treatment is not for you. Any symptoms that will put you off balance, or injuries that could cause contamination are not recommended for aquatic treatment.

Aquatic Therapy for All-Around Fitness

Aquatic therapy sessions are divided into four segments:

  1. Warm-up
  2. Fitness and strength training
  3. Core training
  4. Cool down

The strength you build through jogging, walking, plyometrics and core training will work towards your therapy goals and generally keep your fitness levels up.

Many clients are shocked at how much EASIER exercise is when practiced in the water and who doesn't like to relax and sooth their muscles in a nice warm pool?

We are so pleased to be the ONLY physical therapy clinic to offer aquatic therapy in Elko county. It is just one more way that we can give you the best help possible at our clinic!
